Transit Center and Park & Ride Facilities
Bonneville Transit Center (BTC)
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) is thrilled to announce the groundbreaking of its newest transit terminal. The Bonneville Transit Terminal will be located in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas, on the southwest corner of Casino Center Boulevard at Bonneville Avenue, and was designed to compliment the redevelopment and revitalization of the Downtown Las Vegas area.
The 21,000 square-foot terminal is being built thanks in part to federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act dollars and is expected to be complete by 2010. It will provide the RTC with a facility equipped to serve as a central transfer point for its transit system, including the Gold Line, Blue and Green lines – rapid transit lines slated for completion in 2010 and in 2011 respectively. The facility will feature 16 on-site vehicle bays, approximately 100 double-stacked bike racks, a self-service bike repair station and preferred parking spaces for hybrid vehicles. The terminal will also feature air-conditioned, fully-enclosed waiting areas for passengers, canvas shade structures with solar panels and an administration area.
The Bonneville Transit Center was designed with a commitment to sustainability. It’s expected to receive a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building certification of Gold and will serve as a flagship facility for the RTC.
Centennial Hills Transit Center and Park & Ride (Now Open)
The Centennial Hills Transit Center and Park & Ride is located at 7313 Grand Montecito Pkwy. in the northwest part of the Las Vegas Valley near the US 95 and Durango Drive interchange.
The transit center and park & ride is not only going to mitigate the growing congestion on US 95 due to the increase in travel demands within that corridor, it also complements the introduction of the Valley’s first commuter service. The C-Line travels from the Centennial Hills Transit Center and Park & Ride into Downtown Las Vegas, with continuing service to the Las Vegas Strip and UNLV.
The C-Line features rapid transit service with limited stops and utilizes the high occupancy vehicle lanes on US 95, making the trip from the Centennial Hills area into downtown much faster than traditional bus service.
The Centennial Hills Transit Center and Park & Ride includes:
- Approximately 900 surface parking spaces for cars;
- Transit shelter & transit bays for future express transit service and local routes;
- "Kiss and Ride” areas;
- Landscaping;
- Security; and
- Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs).
The facility is approximately 1,900 square feet and provides transit riders with, customer service information, indoor/outdoor waiting areas, and public restrooms.
South Strip Transfer Terminal (SSTT)The South Strip Transfer Terminal is the Regional Transportation of Southern Nevada's (RTC's) first park and ride facility and has been successfully serving the community since 2004 as a transit hub for the RTC and it’s an option for travelers using McCarran International Airport.
The parking spaces at the terminal are available
free of charge on a first come, first-serve basis to transit riders. Passengers are permitted to leave their vehicle parked in the lot for up to seven days and are encouraged to notify Security at 702-676-1849 when leaving their vehicle in the parking lot. If their vehicle needs to be left for longer than seven days, transit riders must make arrangements with Security.
Parking your car at the South Strip Transfer Terminal at Gilespie Street and Sunset Road and using transit to get to the airport is a breeze. The South Strip Transfer Terminal provides passengers with amenities such as a climate controlled waiting area, restrooms, concession area, park and ride lot, service to the airport and the Strip, a kiss and ride lot and convenient transfers to other transit routes.
Heading to McCarran Airport?
From the South Strip Transfer Terminal, it’s about a ten minute ride on Route 109 to McCarran International Airport. The program has been so successful, the RTC added more than 100 additional parking spaces in 2008. Now the SSTT park and ride offers transit riders over 200 spaces, free of charge on a first-come, first-serve basis. Passengers can leave their vehicles in the park and ride lot and their ride to and from the airport will only cost $2 each way.
Downtown Transportation Center (DTC)
The Downtown Transportation Center, is a key transit operation and transfer site with RTC routes.
