New bus shelters will begin replacing several older ones in the next few months and the first, sleek new shelter was installed in front of Caesars Palace. The modern, stylish shelter replaces the old brown shelter that has been serving transit riders for several years. The new shelters incorporate a variety of design enhancements to improve safety and comfort for riders.
“The new shelters offer increased shade as well as security lighting and cameras for safety. Each shelter will also have a complete system map to make navigating easier for riders, ” said RTC Manager of Transit Advertising and Facilities Carl Scarbrough. “We are very excited about the new shelters and we think they will make our riders very happy.”
There are 3,700 stops within the transit system and the goal is to provide a bench or shelter at every stop. “The RTC’s goal is to start with Clark County and work our way to the other jurisdictions to provide those necessary amenities to our riders,” said RTC Transit Amenities Supervisor Warren Rich.
The RTC wants every passenger to have a positive experience riding on transit and understands that every factor of a passenger’s journey
including the bus shelter plays a big part in that experience.
“Right now we are currently inspecting all the bus stops seven days a week and with that we are making sure our contractor is changing the trash and taking care of any graffiti that may be on the shelters. Also they are making sure they are power washed and cleaned of any dirt and debris,” said Rich.
