The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) has been awarded $2.7 million from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) under Section 5309 Bus and Bus Facilities Livability Initiative Program Grant for the UNLV Multimodal Transit Center Project..
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Multimodal Transit Center that will be located on the main campus. The site for the multimodal transit center will be near the intersection of Maryland Parkway and University Avenue. Development of the site and the usage of the multimodal transit center will be a joint venture between the RTC and UNLV. Specific amenities at the site are expected to include six transit vehicle bays for Route 109, Centennial Express, and UNLV campus transit vehicles. Additional amenities include an outdoor shelter waiting area, Closed-Circut Television Cameras (CCTVs), ticket vending machines (TVMs), and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) that will provide route and schedule information. The outdoor shelter canopy will include solar panels.
The UNLV Multimodal Transit Center Project is part of a nationwide effortt to promote livability and sustainability in transportation systems across the country.
