The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC)
of Southern Nevada will launch two new bus
rapid transit routes in September 2011 that will
connect downtown Las Vegas to the southeastern
valley & Henderson, Nevada.
The Boulder Highway Express and the Henderson
& Downtown Express rapid transit services will
have the look and feel of a light rail system, but
have the flexibility of running on regular streets,
including in dedicated curbside lanes from
Downtown Las Vegas to Tropicana Avenue and in
mixed-flow traffic from Sunset & Stephanie and
Horizon Drive. These new bus rapid transit routes
will provide faster service with fewer stops.
Both bus rapid transit services will feature some
transit stations that will provide a comfortable and
attractive place for riders to wait, with amenities
such as architecturally pleasing shade structures,
generous lighting, level platform boarding, ticket
vending machines and ample seating.
The Boulder Highway Express and the Henderson
& Downtown Express services are being built,
thanks in part, to federal stimulus funds from the
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The Boulder Highway Express
This service will operate 24 hours a day, seven
days a week.
