RTC Projects

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) is a regional government agency that performs many transportation activities within the Southern Nevada community. The RTC was created in 1965 by state statute and in 1981, the agency was named the state Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Las Vegas urban area.

As the Metropolitan Planning Organization for Southern Nevada, the RTC is helping to create sustainable communities. Truly sustainable communities support all types of transportation, including walking, biking and mass transit. These alternative types of travel are key to cutting congestion in the Las Vegas Valley.

Some of the major projects that the Metropolitan Planning Organization is currently working on include:
  • Transit Enhancements
  • Carpool lanes (High Occupancy Vehicle or HOV lanes)
  • Transit Terminals/Park & Ride
  • Rapid transit projects
  • The Bruce Woodbury 215 Beltway and
  • More than 1,700 miles of bike lanes and routes over the next 25 years
