MAXEach year more people discover riding with the RTC is the right choice. Transit is efficient and easy.  It costs a traveler making an 11-mile one-way commute in an automobile $7.44.  In 2006, the cost for the RTC to deliver the same trip via transit is about $2.  Since 2002, the growth in ridership with the RTC has increased by more than 40 percent.  Even with that growth, on average, the RTC operates at approximately one and a half times above the national average of passengers per service hour.
