ADA Accessibility

The RTC, the CAT bus system and all services provided to the community adhere to the rules and regulations set out by the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. Some of our accessibility policies and procedures are outlined below. If you should have any questions regarding these services, please contact the RTC at (702) 676-1500 or TDD (702) 676-1835.

CAT Fixed Route Buses

All CAT buses are ADA accessible providing wheelchair lifts and low-floor kneeling devices. Buses provide space for up to two (2) wheelchairs and/or scooters. Even if you are not in a wheelchair or scooter, but find the stairs difficult to climb, you may request that the wheelchair lift be lowered for use.

Priority Seating

Seats directly behind the driver are reserved for elderly and disabled patrons. This area can also accommodate passengers with wheelchairs or scooters. Federal law requires that operators request passengers (who are able) to vacate priority seating when needed.

CAT Materials

CAT Guides are available in alternative formats such as large print, computer disk and audio tape. Please contact CAT Customer Service to obtain one of these alternative formats at (702) 228-7433.

Stop Announcements

Operators will announce major stops and transfer points. Operators will also announce destination stops if requested by a customer.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome and ride free-of-charge. All other animals must be in a cage with a secured, covered top and will be allowed on the bus as long as space is not required for other passengers. If a seat is required for a pet, full adult fare will be charged.

Personal Care Attendants

Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) are permitted to ride free-of-charge. The customer must have either a Fixed Route Reduced Fare card or a Paratransit Identification Card from CAT or another transit agency.

Mobility Training

A Transit Mobility Specialist is available to provide one-on-one training to eligible customers who wish to learn how to safely and properly use the CAT fixed route bus system. For more information, contact a Transit Mobility Specialist at (702) 676-1767.

ADA Paratransit Services

The RTC offers a shared-ride transportation service for those that are functionally unable to use the CAT fixed route system. Read more about paratransit to see if you are eligible.
