Below is a basic outline of how the funding is provided for some of the major activities of the agency:

Streets & Highways Funding

• Local Funding
• 9 cent per gallon motor vehicle fuel tax

Question 10 funds

• 1/4 of a percent Sales Tax
• 2 cents of existing property tax
• 1 cent Jet Aviation Fuel Tax

Transportation Demand Management

• Congestion Mitigation Air Quality Funding
• Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Funding
• Local Funding

Planning Activities

• Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Funding
• FTA 5305, 5307 & 5309 funding
• Local Funding

RTC Transit Bus Funding

• 1/4 of a percent sales tax
• Money collected from the farebox
• Money collected from bus advertising
• Federal grants and formula funds
